Mammootty’s ‘Varsham’ is a family drama

Ranjith Sankar of Punyalan Agarbattis fame returns with Varsham, a family entertainer featuring Mammootty and Asha Sharath.

“Venu is a typical Malayali leading a self-centred life,” said Sankar. “Nandini, his wife, is the snooty kind who loves to gossip. They have a son who is doing his plus two.”

An incident causes an upheaval in their lives. “This involves issues people encounter in life and viewers will connect with this film.”

Working with Mammootty was the best shooting experience of his career, said Sankar.

“Only Mammukka could do justice to this role. I never saw him perform; he became Venu. Asha’s role is difficult and she has acquitted it well.”

“I am the typical kushumbi bharya [jealous wife] in this family drama,” said the mother of two teenagers. “It is a story that Malayalis will love.”
