Legendary crooner Tom Jones will be the special guest performer at the Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner

Dubai: The legendary crooner is back. Welsh singer Sir Tom Jones will be the special guest performer at the 2011 Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner on Tuesday evening at the Meydan, organisers have announced.
Jones, whose last UAE appearance was at a concert in Abu Dhabi in April last year, will be performing for an audience of about 3,200 invited guests from the aviation world, including visiting dignitaries, exhibitors, business executives and members of the media.
"This is a great show. I love performing these songs and the band is fantastic, so I'm looking forward to seeing and entertaining everyone at the Airshow Gala in Dubai this month," Jones said in a statement.
Anita Mehra, the chairperson of the Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner Committee said Jones' performance follows a string of international performers that have graced the event over the years including Diana Ross, Michael Bolton, Lionel Richie and George Benson.
"Tom Jones is an entertainer whose popularity has spanned many decades and I have no doubt he will enthral the guests as soon as he steps on stage," she said.
