During this era, the Roger Pirates crossed paths with the Kuja Pirates at sea
In Chapter 1156, titled ‘Idols’, One Piece spoilers are here!
Posted by Pew Piece and Redon, the story shifts its lens to a flashback steeped in charisma, rivalry, and the early stirrings of legend. The spotlight falls on the Kuja Pirates, once hailed across the seas not just as warriors, but as cultural icons.
At the front are Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Nami, with Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban positioned behind them. The rest of the Straw Hats make smaller appearances, cleverly nestled in Luffy’s pockets or perched on him.
According to the leaks, the narrator sets the tone, recalling a time when the Kuja Pirates were considered idols. Their notoriety was such that bounty posters became collectors’ items, and their every move was followed with fascination. Led by Gloriosa, with Shakuyaku as her formidable second-in-command, the Kuja crew were idolised across the seas. Shakuyaku, who would later be known as “Empress,” rose to a level of fame that eclipsed even her captain.
During this era, the Roger Pirates crossed paths with the Kuja Pirates at sea. The encounter was memorable for more than just combat. Most of the Roger crew were too captivated by Shakuyaku’s beauty to fight, including Roger himself. When Roger tried to recruit Shakuyaku, she firmly refused and landed a hit on him, declaring, “I belong to no one.” Meanwhile, Gloriosa declared her love for Roger, who dismissively replied, “Get out of the way Gloriosa, I can’t see Shakky.”
Rayleigh was the only member of the Roger crew unaffected by Shakuyaku’s allure. This intrigued her enough to offer him their treasure before giving him a parting wink—finally causing Rayleigh to blush.
Before the situation escalated further, Garp’s ship arrived. The Kuja Pirates retreated, but the Roger Pirates stayed behind to confront the Marines. The clash between Garp and Roger was monumental. Garp unleashed a technique called “Meteor Fist,” while Roger responded with ‘Wild Soul,’ a move rooted in Shinto mythology. Their battle was illustrated in a dramatic double-page spread, with the narrator underscoring this era as the beginning of legendary confrontations among future titans.
In Elbaph, Loki was invited by Ida and Hajrudin to stay and live in peace. He declined, driven by the desire to go to sea and align himself with the Rocks Pirates. Meanwhile in Hachinosu, a new figure entered the scene. “Kyou the Yakuza,” later known as Silver Axe, arrived and attacked several pirates. Not yet a member of the Rocks Pirates, Kyou is portrayed as a towering gangster, dressed in a kimono patterned with axes, sunglasses, and a large back tattoo. He is described as a rival to Golden Lion Shiki.
The chapter introduces additional Rocks Pirates crew members, including Charlotte Linlin, Kaidou, Streusen, Captain John, and a catfish Fish-Man named Barbel. Barbel, who had appeared briefly during the God Valley flashback, is depicted with flame-like hair.
The chapter closes with a dramatic scene inside the skull of Hachinosu, where the entire Rocks crew gathers. Rocks outlines a bold plan to destroy the Holy Land, declaring Elbaph as the key to this mission. He reveals he is seeking two powerful Devil Fruits, one of which is in Elbaph, and intends for Harald to consume one to unlock its full potential. Additionally, he seeks the Galleyla Giants, though their exact role remains unclear.
Rocks delivers a decisive message to his crew:
“Listen, Elbaph is crucial to taking the Holy Land. Don’t believe me? Then get lost. Whether or not you want to follow me on the destined day is up to you. But if you’ve made up your mind, then tag along. I will show you what’s on the summit of the world.”
