Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has revealed that he recently met Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, to discuss innovative collaborations, including their AI-powered virtual global band, ‘Secret Mountain’.

Rahman shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “It was a pleasure to meet @sama at his office… we discussed ‘Secret Mountain’, our virtual global band, and ways to empower and uplift Indian minds to use AI tools to address generational challenges and lead the way forward.”

He also tagged @chatgptindia and @OpenAI in his post, suggesting a deepening engagement with artificial intelligence in the creative and educational spaces.

Melding music and technology

‘Secret Mountain’ is envisioned as a pioneering initiative that combines music and AI to create global artistic collaborations. Rahman’s interest in AI is part of his larger mission to explore technology-driven storytelling and education.

Meanwhile, the music maestro is juggling several high-profile projects. He is currently composing music for the much-anticipated Ramayana film series, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, with legendary German composer Hans Zimmer also on board.

Produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana Part 1 is slated for release on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in 2027.

Rahman is also scoring music for Tamil actor-director SJ Suryah’s upcoming film Killer, which marks Suryah’s directorial comeback after nearly a decade.
