Who’s in it? Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton

The plot: We do struggle with the fact they’ve made a Bourne film without Bourne, but the new characters and plot twists this introduces us to are worth getting to know. Aaron Cross (played by a very good Renner) is number five of the six chemically-enhanced spies in the Outcome programme, aka the next generation of super-spies post-Bourne.

But thanks to the original Bourne’s antics, the hunter becomes the hunted, and the government decides they want to eradicate the whole Outcome programme, and kill everyone involved – including Cross – leading us on a worldwide chase (we love the scenes shot in Manila) that’s filled with chaotic action sequences.

This is a smart action flick with almost as much guts as its predecessor (a warning, though, if you haven’t seen the original Matt Damon Bourne films you might struggle to understand what’s actually going on in between all the gung-ho gun battles).
