The rapper fell ill mid-performance during her Broadway debut, prompting show to halt

Dubai: Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to hospital on Tuesday night after falling ill midway through her performance of Moulin Rouge on Broadway, bringing the show to an unexpected halt and leaving the audience concerned for the rapper's wellbeing.
The 31-year-old, whose real name is Megan Pete, made her Broadway debut in the production just last week on 24 March, taking on the role of Zidler, the larger-than-life owner of the iconic cabaret club. She had announced the milestone to her fans, known as Hotties, with characteristic excitement, writing: "HOTTIES IM ON BROADWAY!!"
Megan appeared in the opening scenes of Tuesday's performance at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York before her symptoms forced her to leave the stage. The show was brought to a stop mid-performance, with staff asking the audience to remain seated while the situation was assessed.
One audience member shared their experience on X, writing that after the show stopped, security told them to stay inside and that they would be updated if anything changed. The performance eventually resumed with an understudy stepping in to complete the show in Megan's place.
A Moulin Rouge spokesperson confirmed the news in a statement, saying: "During Tuesday night's production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated. We will share additional updates as more information becomes available."
At the time of writing, no further details about the nature of her illness have been disclosed.
Support for Megan poured in across social media following the news. Her hairstylist Kellon Deryck posted on X urging fans to send their prayers, and entertainment correspondent Loren LoRosa, who was present in the audience, reported on the situation as it unfolded in real time.
The incident marks an unsettling turn in what had been a landmark moment in Megan's career. Her Broadway debut had been widely celebrated as a bold new chapter, stepping away from the stage and studio to take on a fully theatrical role. Fans are now waiting for an update on her condition and hoping for a swift recovery.
