Mammotty picks up an award for best actor from the Asiavision Movie Awards

His fans already know he’s top dog, and now it’s confirmed - in the UAE at least, where Mammotty picked up an award for best actor from the Asiavision Movie Awards in Sharjah on Friday.

Over 32,000 fans saw the South Indian star pick up the award at the fourth annual Malayalam awards ceremony, for his performances in three films: Kutty Srank (a favourite at last year’s Dubai International Film Festival) Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha, and Pranchiyettan and the Saint -- the latter also taking home the best movie award.

Best actress went to Meera Jasmin for her role in Paattinte Palazhy, while Siddique picked up best supporting actor. Another DIFF favourite, Kerala Café, brought the best supporting actress award for Kalpana.

The awards ceremony also saw performances by MG Sreekumar, Benny Dayal, Swetha Mohan, Karthik, Vineeth Sreenivasan and V Sreekumar.
