Sensation makes sense
Sangeeta is known to introduce sensational stars in her films. This time, she has brought forth Sonu Lal, who is starring in her current production, Nasha Jawani Da.

Sangeeta used Lal as an item girl in her Eid release, Khatarnak, which is doing well in local cinemas. The response of the audiences to her numbers was overwhelming and Sangeeta immediately cast the actress as the second lead in her very next venture.

Lal has also signed a lead role in Altaf Hussain's Armaan, the shooting for which will start next month.

Post-break sessions
Imran Urooj is giving his full attention to films. Pre-occupied with family matters for a while, Urooj allowed his career to lag awhile but is back.

And the break seems to have done him a load of good for he is cautious when choosing his roles. The actor has signed on for two of Sangeeta's films, Tarap and Kangan.

The wait continues
Meera has been chosen over Reema to star opposite Shaan in Channa Sacchi Mucchi. News spread of the possibility of Shaan and Reema being paired together after nearly five years.

They were last seen together in Sangeeta's Nikaah. Again, Khalilur Rehman Qamar, the writer of Reema's own production, Koi Tujh Sa Kahan, hoped to get the two actors together in the film but that didn't happen there either.

Quick takes

Safety in security
Khusbu, Nargis and Saima Khan have hired private security officials to help get them past overly eager fans once they are through with their late night shows at theatres.

The actresses were against the idea of being kept away from their fans but it seems they have started thinking otherwise.

Waiting for Sana
Javed Shaikh's Khuley Aasmaan Ke Neeche has been two years in the making and the way things are shaping, it just might take as many years for the picture to be released.

For one, lead heroine Sana is too busy with Indian actor Sunny Deol's Qafila and its shoots in Europe. Secondly, Sheikh's TV schedules have hampered the shooting of his film.

No child's play this
Hadeeqa Kiyani has proved that her actions speak louder than words. The singer has adopted a child from amongst the survivors of the October earthquake.

Her move comes in the wake of several actresses playing the card of adoption to garner publicity. Not one actress has yet adopted a child.

Tragic and happy
Nazo is hoping to get to work on another Urdu film after the success of Sahab Loag. The actress would like to do a tragic role and feels she would excel in it.

Merging folks
Kathak danseuse Nighat Chaudhry plans to set up her own dance academy soon. the school, to be called the National Dance Foundation, would cater to the needs of all those interested in folk dance forms.

Says the danseuse: "Through our folk dances, we can bring different ethnic identities closer. I have always been of the view that performing arts blend people into a cultural oneness and folk music ought to be propagated by the TV channels as well."
