Egyptian singer Sherine Abdul Wahab, who was a special guest at an Egyptian-American association, burst into tears in front of the audience. Upset over rumours of asking for money to pose with her daughter Mariam for a magazine, Abdul Wahab said: "Until now, despite my experience, I cannot be like other stars and say that I do not care about what is said about me. I become very upset and I cry when rumours are published." Abdul Wahab, who is expecting her second child, added: "Lately lies were written about my family and my daughter, Mariam.

Some said that I took money for the picture, but I did not. I am not selling my daughter. If I accepted to do so, it was because my husband told me that she is still very young and that her face will change with time so that people would never recognise her when she grows up."
