Harris in undies

Sure, this is Neil Patrick Harris' first time to host the Oscars. We loved the cute moment on the red carpet with this partner, and when he took the stage for a grand show while wearing a tux, but then somehow he ended up on stage with just his underpants on! Yup, there's a first time for everything.

That hug

Not sure whether Emma Stone wants to hug or choke Jennifer Aniston (or both) on the red carpet, but this pose sure looks fun. And yes, both of them survived.

Extra long speech

"Life is full of surprises," said Pawel Pawlikowski in his acceptance speech for the Polish film, Ida, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Surprises, indeed, since Pawlikowski ended up talking too long on stage that the sound guys had to repeat the "wrap it up" music just so he can take a hint.

Idina and Travolta let it go

Happy to see no one was left cold in this pairing. Frozen actress Idina Menzel and actor John Travolta had a laugh introducing each other as they presented the Best Original Song award.

Travolta had introduced Menzel as Adele Nazeem in last year's Oscars, which he later profusely apologised for. This time, it was Menzel's turn to introduce Travolta with aplomb, calling him "my very dear friend Glom Gazinga."

"I deserved that," Travolta said, calling her "my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel."

Menzel responded, "It's not like it's going to follow me around for the rest of my life."
"Tell me about it," Travolta shot back.

As he was about to read the winner of the best song award, she said, "You want me to do it?"

The sound of Gaga

How do you solve a problem like Gaga? Give it to the pop icon, who gave an entertaining medley of songs from The Sound Of Music before introducing the original The Sound of Music star, Julie Andrews, on stage. The audience were on their feet, of course.

"Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute," Andrews said. "It really warmed my heart, it really did. It's hard to believe 50 years has gone by since that film was released. How lucky can a girl get?"
