- Bill Murray had originally planned to become a doctor, but he left university after being arrested for possession of drugs.
- He loves parties and often attends parties his fans invite him to. Once, he got invited to a party and did the dishes for the host.
- He was the singer in a band called the Dutch Masters as a teenager.
- He once played guitar onstage with Eric Clapton and also sang a duet with Clint Eastwood at an event.
- Murray is known for having mood swings, which led actor Dan Aykroyd to give him the nickname “The Murricane”.
- He is also an author and wrote a book called Cinderella Story: My Life in Golf, which did pretty well.
- Murray is one of the few actors who does NOT have a publicist.
- In 1982, Murray was David Letterman’s first onscreen interview.
- Murray and his brothers worked as golf caddies while in high school in order to fund their Jesuit education.
- He was considered for the role of Willy Wonka in the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as Han Solo in Star Wars and as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story.
- While shooting Ghostbusters in New York, Murray would get thousands of dollars in smallish notes and hand them out to homeless people.
- He admits that he cried at George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding. Aww!
