Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Amy Jackson take part in ‘Style and the Sikh’ show
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar along with co-stars from his upcoming film Singh is Bliing, Amy Jackson and Lara Dutta, paid tribute to the Sikh fashion community with a show titled Style and the Sikh. The collection showcased Sikh models with designs by JJ Valaya and choreography by Harmeet Bajaj.
Sunil Sethi, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) president, hosted the evening of fashion with an exclusive media preview of Style and the Sikh. The event showcased Kumar, Jackson and Dutta walking down the ramp in a “bling”-themed fashion show put together by Sikhs.
The event started with a grand entry by Kumar followed by the two actresses. Next in line was the fashion show where Kumar, in a Sikh look, was the showstopper.
After the fashion show, Kumar was asked why “bling” was attached to his latest film and he said: “Bling is not related to [an] outfit but to the imagination of people and how it has changed.”
The unique part about the show was that everyone’s outfits were inspired by Sikh culture. Even the models were Sikhs. Sethi was also dressed in a Sikh look.
In Singh is Bliing, directed by Prabhu Deva, Kumar plays a Sikh character. The film will release in India on October 2.
