John Abraham learned matrail arts in Hong Kong for a month to make his performance authentic

Director Nishikant Kamat says his upcoming John Abraham-starring movie Rocky Handsome, an adaptation of the 2010 Korean film The Man from Nowhere, will take the action genre in Bollywood to a new level.
The Drishyam helmer, who earlier directed Force with Abraham, said the actor went through a monthlong training regime in martial arts for the movie.
“I have styled Rocky Handsome as a classic oriental action film. You will not see such Kung fu in India. John trained for a month in Hong Kong before starting the film. I have made an out-and-out sleek action film, which is very high octane,” Kamat said.
The Indian national award-winning filmmaker said he zeroed in on Abraham as the lead because they share a close bond.
“I have worked with John before in Force. And we have a great equation. He is a friend. I share a comfort zone with him. I have not worked with many of the action stars in Bollywood and I don’t know them. So, John was the obvious choice,” he said.
The film will once again see the on-screen pairing of Shruti Haasan opposite Abraham. They worked together on Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back.
Rocky Handsome is expected to release in October this year.
