Dubai: Astronomer CEO Andy Byron's fake public apology and statement is now doing the rounds after he was caught on camera at a Coldplay concert embracing a woman who was not his wife but his colleague.

The incident occurred during the band’s recent performance in Massachusetts, where Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jokingly commented on a couple featured on the kiss cam, saying, “Either they are having an affair or they’re just really shy.”

The couple in question—Byron and his Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot —were seen embracing in the stands. Once they realised they were being broadcast on the big screen, they quickly separated, with Byron attempting to duck behind a transparent glass barrier.

The footage went viral within hours, prompting social media users to identify Byron and speculate on his personal life. Several noted that his wife had recently removed his last name from her social media profiles.

The statement, which appears to be fake and originated from a parody account, read:

“What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake played out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologise to my wife, my family, and my team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.”

Byron added that he would be taking time to reflect and take accountability for his actions, while also requesting privacy as he navigates next steps both personally and professionally.

He also expressed concern about the public exposure of the moment, saying:

British Band Cold Play is known for their stirring melodies

However, public reaction to his fake remarks has been mixed. While some acknowledged the apology, many criticised Byron for appearing to shift blame toward the band. Social media users, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), said the attempt to fault Coldplay for the viral moment was “misplaced” and “tone-deaf.”

As of now, neither Astronomer nor Coldplay has issued any statement.
