Dubai: Shoppers will be spoilt for choices for the next two weeks as part of the Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
Although Eid takes place next weekend, retail outlets have launched offers and promotions, as part of the annual Eid In Dubai promotions, to lure shoppers.
Muslims usually spend on a lot on gifts, giveaways and clothes on the eve of Eid that triggers sale during the later part of Ramadan. The festive shopping in the Muslim world could be compared to the annual Christmas sale in the West.
The Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE), in charge of the Eid In Dubai promotions, said that more and more retailers are putting up exclusive promotions to catch up with Eid shoppers. Several retail outlets are extending their offers till September 15 as part of the ‘Eid in Dubai' initiative. With only days left for Eid Al Fitr, shoppers can look forward to extensive discounts on consumer goods across outlets in Dubai.
"The promotion is, in fact, a continuation of retail offers that began with Dubai Summer Surprises and that will conclude with ‘Eid in Dubai'. Around 6,000 retail outlets are participating in the promotion, giving resident shoppers and visitors from GCC the opportunity to bag unbeatable bargains during Eid Al Fitr," it said in a statement.
Airport Expo Dubai is all set to host a back-to-school exhibition and a fun fair to mark Eid Al Fitr. It aims to bring various nationalities together to celebrate Eid and the venue will be just one of many entertainment destinations planned as part of the occasion. In addition to the exhibition, DEPE is also putting up an extensive funfair featuring rides, games, and much more for children.
The back-to-school exhibition, organised by Concept Brands Trading, will be held from September 9 to September 18 between 10am and 10pm at the East Hall of the Expo. Some of the best known brands in school stationery such as Pelikan, Staedtler, 3M, and Touchmate will be part of the display.
While the focus is on stationery, visitors can browse through a wide range of products such as laptops, computer accessories, uniforms, and books, with discounts of between 30 and 70 per cent.
