Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has launched a pilot program for autonomous e-commerce delivery vehicles, a new step in the emirate’s efforts to build a next-generation smart mobility ecosystem and strengthen its leadership in digital transformation.

The initiative is being rolled out under the supervision of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) and led by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), in partnership with noon and AutoGo, a subsidiary of K2.

As part of the project, AutoGo’s self-driving delivery vehicles are being integrated into noon’s logistics network to improve the efficiency of supplying mini-fulfilment centers across the capital.

Powered by artificial intelligence and equipped with advanced sensors, the vehicles are designed to navigate urban streets safely and autonomously, delivering orders without the need for human drivers.

The project represents a significant milestone in modernizing Abu Dhabi’s logistics sector, merging autonomous mobility with e-commerce to reduce congestion and carbon emissions while enhancing the customer experience. It also supports the emirate’s long-term smart mobility strategy, which aims for 25 percent of all trips in Abu Dhabi to be completed using smart transport systems by 2040.

Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, said the pilot reflects Abu Dhabi’s push toward a more intelligent and sustainable transport network. “This project, undertaken in collaboration with noon, highlights ITC’s role in enabling innovative technologies within a safe and reliable regulatory framework that advances sustainability and improves quality of life across the community,” he said.

Faraz Khalid, CEO of noon, said the partnership represents a turning point for the region’s e-commerce landscape. “Noon aims to redefine the future of e-commerce through innovation, and our collaboration with Abu Dhabi Mobility and AutoGo is an important step toward developing autonomous delivery solutions that strengthen the efficiency and sustainability of logistics services,” he said. The pilot, he added, reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional leader in smart transport and digital transformation.

AutoGo, noon, and Abu Dhabi Mobility plan to expand the pilot to additional neighborhoods and broaden the range of products carried by the autonomous vehicles, with full commercial deployment expected in the near future.
