Strong project management foundation key to leverage game changing technologies
Dubai: The Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) plans to highlight project management in increasingly growing sectors such as healthcare, aerospace, sports, investigation management, and hospitality; as well as introduce new critical areas such as organizational change management, innovation and delighting customers, top industry executives said.
A strong project management foundation is critical to leverage game changing technologies and solutions in the way businesses, the economy and governments are run. The forum will demonstrate how smart, sustainable and innovative project management practices are executed to ensure successful outcomes.
The DIPMF organized by Road and Transport Authority and Dubai Electricity & Water Authority along with Emaar Properties will be attended by 50 speakers. This year the forum will take place at Madinat Jumeirah from November 22-24. The forum will start with workshops on Sunday on various aspects on project management and attendance will be based on invitation only
“The event is in line with the role of Dubai to play pivotal role in leading the development drive in the region, and accelerating the growth tempo on the basis of sound scientific principles aligned with the highest global standards,” Mattar Al-Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA, Dubai said in a statement.
The second edition of the DIPMF will discuss a whole host of new topics spanning the aviation sector, innovation & creativity, healthcare, education, financial services, hospitality, investigations, and digital projects. The Forum will continue to debate issues relating to smart cities, Expo 2020, Project Management Office, Governance & Management of Corporate Projects, infrastructure and engineering projects, Al-Tayer added.
For this, the forum will see the presence of Sarah Amiri, Deputy Project Manager and Science Lead, Have HOPE – Mission to Mars, Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, along with Col. Mohammed Aqeel, Director of Criminal Prosecution – General Directorate of Criminal Investigation, Dubai Police among others.
The forum also plans to cover and highlight the role of innovative project management, project management maturity, collaboration tools to optimize project management, leadership in managing projects, the role of project management in customer service, and best practices and approaches used in executing UAE’s mega projects.
World Expo:
“With the preparations for the ‘best ever’ World Expo 2020 also in progress, leveraging international best practice is of strategic importance in driving project management,” Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties said.
“We have also demonstrated our capability in undertaking and delivering mega-projects including our flagship Downtown Dubai, the world’s most visited lifestyle destination and upcoming projects including The Opera District, Dubai Hills Estate and Dubai Creek Harbour,” he further added.
The other organizer, RTA will design and undertake the public transport projects required for hosting Expo 2020 including the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro, upgrading roads surrounding or leading to Expo site, completing the Dubai Water Canal Project running 3 km from the Sheikh Zayed Road, passing across the Safa Park and Jumeirah 2 and terminating at the Arabian Gulf. RTA is also planning to buy additional trains up to 2020, and widen the bus network to cover 16 new areas besides improving the services in 19 areas by 2020.
