Mubadala in Dh1b armed forces contract to conduct maintenance
Abu Dhabi: Mubadala, an Abu Dhabi-based investment company, has signed a Dh1 billion maintenance and repair service contract with the UAE's armed forces, a top official said.
Mubadala development company last week launched Al Taif Technical Services, a Dh50 million paid-up capital company.
The Abu Dhabi-based company will work as a maintenance, repair and overhaul service provider for heavy utility vehicles and ground support equipment including electronic and optical equipment.
The 20-year contract will make the UAE armed forces Al Taif's major client.
Dynacorp International has been appointed by Al Taif as the prime vendor to the company to provide management and technical expertise, processes and systems.
The contract with US-based Dynacorp spans seven years and meets the requirements of Al Taif's ambition to become the region's leading maintenance and repair centre.
Outsourcing
"Our partnership with Al Taif encourages us to look for further outsourcing opportunities that ensure best value for money for the armed forces and to achieve maximum benefits to improve our capabilities," said Staff Major General Obaid Al Ketbi, chief of logistics for the armed forces.
"Such capabilities will be further enhanced through partnerships like the one Al Taif has established with Dynacorp for the land forces," said Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, chief operating officer of Mubadala Development.
"The launch of Al Taif represents a significant step in our endeavour to be a leader in providing world-class maintenance services to both business and the government," said Al Taif CEO Cyril Arar.
The company's main objectives centre on providing world class maintenance, repair, overhauling and upgrading services for all types of military and commercial vehicles, including fighting platforms, tankers, transporters, buses, trucks, earth moving equipment and 4x4 vehicles in addition to electronic and optical equipment including fire control and targeting systems.
