UAE markets continue upward trend after extended holidays

Dubai: Stock markets in the United Arab Emirates close higher on Thursday after a 10-day holiday.

Emaar Properties leads gains on Dubai's benchmark, ending 3.69 per cent higher, while du surges 6.16 percent.

The index rises 0.63 per cent to 1,987 points.

Abu Dhabi's index makes marginal gains, closing just 0.09 per cent up at 2,756 points. Abu Dhabi National Energy Co rises 3.17 per cent.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank ends 4.31 per cent up.

Qatar's main index extends gains into a second day following the Eid Al Adha holiday, led by Industries Qatar, while Bahrain's benchmark inches lower.

Industries Qatar, down almost 46 per cent this year, ends 4.2 per cent up, while Commercial Bank of Qatar gains 2.81 per cent.

The index ends 1.53 per cent up at 6,260 points.

In Bahrain, Gulf Finance House, down 51 per cent this year, closes 2.44 per cent lower.

The index slips 0.2 per cent to 1,923 points.
