Japan imports 29m barrels of UAE crude

Quantity accounts for 26.3% of Japan’s total crude imports

Tokyo: Japan imported 29.06 million barrels of crude oil from the UAE in March 2016 according to data released by the Agency of Energy and Natural Resource in Tokyo.

This accounts for 26.3 per cent of Japan’s total crude imports, the agency that comes under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said.

Saudi Arabia provided 33.7 million barrels, or 32.1 per cent of the total, while Kuwait, Qatar, Russia and Iran provided 9.4 per cent, 9 per cent, 7.6 per cent and 5.6 per cent respectively.

Japan imported a little more than 2 million barrels from Iraq in March, and 313,000 barrels from the United States in March.

Arab oil accounted for more over three quarters, or 80.3 per cent, of Japan’s petroleum needs in March.

Japan’s crude oil imports in that month amounted to 110.38 million barrels, the agency said.
