Dubai: The Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, du, on Tuesday launched a mobile business plan for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which the company said would triple their value for money.

A du spokesman said its Business Super Plan was an update of a similar plan launched in August last year for the same segment, and it would offer more savings and services such as one international rate for about 190 top destinations.

The company's chief commercial officer Fareed Faraidouni said: "Our new Business Super Plan gives the most competitive rates on international and national calling as well as the best deals on smartphones in the market.

"For those that are looking for a super cost-effective business monthly plan, you can't do better than our new Business Super Plan[s]," Faraidouni said.

The plan has three variations, with the lowest commitment at Dh100 per month, along with savings of up to 30 per cent on international calls and 50 per cent on mobile calls between businesses, each with a du account. "This is a large and important segment in the economy. There hasn't been a specific plan for them before," Faraidouni said.

Fixed rate

International calling rates differ between options but each has a fixed rate that applies to 190 destinations.

The UAE's number of small to medium enterprises is considered difficult to quantify due to the segment's relatively new definition.

But Faraidouni said that typically, it constituted about 90 per cent of businesses. "It is definitely the largest segment of the enterprises [in the UAE]," he said.

"We have to see how the demand will be, but we believe that it [the new plan] will have a huge pickup," he said. Faraidouni said that du's total mobile customer base had passed four million.
