The reappointment of Deemah AlYahya will see the DCO bring its 4-Year Agenda to action
Kuwait City: The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) today announced the reappointment of Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya for a second four-year term. This decision was formally agreed upon during a Special Council Meeting, which was held virtually from the State of Kuwait. The nomination was submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and ratified by the DCO Council.
The reappointment of Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya will see the DCO bring its 4-Year Agenda to action. The 4-Year Agenda - announced in February 2025 during DCO’s 4th General Assembly - will strengthen cooperation to boost digital economic resilience and foster social prosperity by advancing digital maturity across Member States.
Congratulating the Secretary-General on her reappointment, Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communication Affairs and current Chairperson of the DCO Council, Omar Saud Al-Omar, said “On behalf of the DCO Council, I extend my warmest congratulations to the Secretary-General on her reappointment. The decision of the Council is testament to the impeccable leadership the Secretary-General has shown over her first term and we look forward to accelerating DCO’s successes over the next four years.”
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the DCO Council through my reappointment as Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization for the next 4 years. And I would also like to express my gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their nomination for this position. I am honored to take on this responsibility with confidence and a strong determination to serve our Member States and achieve our common aspirations,” said DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya.
“Over the past years, we have built a strong foundation, expanded our global presence, and positioned digital cooperation as a pillar of inclusive development. But challenges remain, from the digital divide to the accelerating pace of innovation. I reaffirm my full commitment to serving the Member States with transparency, flexibility, and a focus on achieving our shared mission. Together, we will continue to make a tangible impact and promote a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient digital future for all.”
Since its founding, DCO has introduced a suite of practical tools to help Member States develop more inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready digital economies. These include the Digital Economy Navigator (DEN), which enables countries to better navigate the paths to sustainable and inclusive growth of the digital economy, find opportunities for development, benchmark progress, and bridge the gap in digital economy maturity.
Under the DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya’s leadership, the organization has grown from five founding Member States to sixteen diverse nations, and positioned itself as a forward-looking international multilateral organization, focused on enabling countries to build digital policies and infrastructure that unlock economic opportunity, empower youth and entrepreneurs, and align with Sustainable Development Goals. The Secretary-General’s reappointment affirms Member States’ belief that continuity and credible delivery are essential to the Organization’s next phase.
The DCO is a global multilateral organization founded in November 2020. It brings together 16 Member States collectively representing more than USD 3.5 trillion in GDP and a population of over 800 million, 70 per cent of whom are under the age of 35. DCO aims to enable digital prosperity for all by unifying efforts to advance digital transformation and promote common interests.
