Competition report shows UAE strength

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has enhanced its position as one of the leading competitive economies in the world after it moved up six positions to 31st place in the Global Competitiveness Report 2008-09.

Hani Al Hamili, Secretary General of the Dubai Economic Council, said the report reflects the strength of the UAE economy and its ability to compete internationally. "The UAE's powerful economy reflects the farsightedness of its wise leadership," Al Hamili said.

The report contained an important classification related to development stages represented in providing industrial atmosphere, creativity and innovation, general economic stability, and education.

Adel Al Falasi, Chief Executive of the Dubai Competitiveness Council, said there were many factors behind this achievement but the most important of which is the government support, which contributed to the economic growth. The rankings are calculated from the Executive Opinion Survey.
