Swiss International Air Lines, the country's national flag carrier, will start daily flights from Muscat's Seeb International Airport as of October 31.
The airline, known as SWISS, has also completed a code share agreement with Oman's national carrier, Oman Air.
"During the past year, we have witnessed a stronger need from customers in Oman for services both to and onward from Switzerland," said Peter Schilter, country manager for Swiss International Airlines in Oman.
"The increased demand and the new enhanced code share agreement with Oman Air will allow us to offer a convenient daily product for passengers looking to connect with the SWISS service," Schilter said.
Additionally, the new service will allow greater control of operational costs, and will in turn help us reduce the day to day running charges."
The new daily service from Seeb will depart at 12:40am to arrive in Zurich at 6:20am, thus offering passengers connections to other destinations in Switzerland and key destinations in Europe such as Paris, London, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels and Madrid.
"Oman Air is committed to working hand in hand with SWISS to ensure that this increase in the frequency of flights between Zurich and Muscat is a success," said Mohammad Mubarak Al Shikely, senior manager of marketing for Oman Air.
