Flights from UAE to UK back to normal after ash clouds cause chaos

Dubai: Flights from the UAE to the UK returned to normal on Tuesday, following the cancellation of four flights on Monday due to the spread of ash clouds from an Icelandic volcano.

The ash clouds caused several European airports shut down on Monday.

A spokesperson of Etihad Airways, which had to ground four flights on Monday, said, "Flights are back to normal. Today all our flights to the UK are on schedule."

Emirates, the biggest operator to the UK from the GCC, did not report any delays or cancellations of their services to northern Europe, where about 1,000 flights were affected.

According to reports, since the beginning of a volcanic eruption in Iceland on April 14, some 250 million cubic metres of tephra (ash and other fragmental material) has been produced.

The eruption had peaked three times. Travellers have been advised to exercise caution and remained informed.
