Emirates to restart Baghdad service

Dubai: Emirates said on Tuesday it will restart services to Baghdad on March 1 following a “comprehensive safety and security review in conjunction with the [UAE] GCAA.”

The GCAA — General Civil Aviation Authority — suspended the four UAE carriers, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia and flydubai, from flying to Baghdad, Iraq last month after a flydubai flight was hit by a bullet.

The GCAA has since started to allow UAE carriers to resume flights. Emirates’ service to Baghdad is six weekly flights.
