Junior Championships get under way in Dubai

Kolodynska and Moghimi are top seeds



Dubai: Jana Kolodynska of Belarus and Iran’s Sina Moghimi will start as the top seeds in the girls’ and boys’ sections at the 17th UAE Dubai ITF Junior Championships that get under way at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Garhoud on November 5.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hasher Al Maktoum, President, Tennis Emirates (TE), this annual tournament will start off with the qualifying rounds on November 3 and 4. The main round matches will commence on November 5, while the event will conclude with the singles finals from 1pm on November 10.

As per the latest rankings, top seed Kolodynska is No. 249 on the ITF Juniors, while Moghimi is the highest at No. 383. In last year’s singles, Ukraine’s Eric Vanshelboim and Egypt’s Hania Abouelsaad had won the boys’ and girls’ titles.

Organised by Tennis Emirates (TE) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the weeklong tournament has Shine Tennis as its official sponsor for balls.
