Hosts Jumeirah Golf Estates win the Clash of Titans

60 golfers, from three Dubai clubs, were a part of the social event

Dubai: Hosts Jumeirah Golf Estates won the ‘Clash of the Titans,’ a Team Texas Scramble format tournament at the Earth course with 60 golfers from Jumeirah Golf Estates, Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

The teams were made up of five professionals and 15 amateurs from each club, playing in a Team Texas Scramble format with every fourball’s score counting towards the overall result of their club.

Jumeirah Golf Estates ended with a terrific score of 80-under, beating Emirates Golf Club by nine shots and in third place with a score of 68 under was Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

The winners of the fourball division, with a remarkable net 53, 19-under par was the team of Tim Backhouse, David Warham, Tom Morgans and Lee Hewitt representing Jumeirah Golf Estates. The team played impressively, posting an amazing score of 15 under gross, managing three net eagles on their way to victory.

Stephen Hubner, Director of Golf, commented at the prize giving ceremony: ‘‘Congratulations to Jumeirah Golf Estates on winning this round of the ‘Clash of the Titans,’ and a big well done to Tim Backhouse, David Warham, Tom Morgans and Lee Hewitt for an amazing win in the fourball event. It’s a pleasure for us to host such an event at Jumeirah Golf Estates. However, we must thank both the amateurs and the professionals for their continued support.’’
