From the Editors: No room for unlawful practices in the UAE

NO ROOM FOR UNLAWFUL PRACTICES IN THE UAE: The introduction of an online platform called ‘The Wajib’ by the Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority to report corruption should be lauded. It is yet another proactive measure by the authorities to ensure that there is no room for unlawful practices in the country. Aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in government and government-related entities, the new platform is a great tool that can help identify any lapses, investigate them and take action under the law. EUROPEAN CONFERENCE LEAGUE: ANOTHER FEATHER IN THE CAP FOR ‘SPECIAL ONE’: It was another feather in the cap for the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho, who on Wednesday night became the second manager to win five major European titles after Giovanni Trapattoni as his AS Roma side clinched the Europa Conference League on Wednesday. Mourinho, who had previously won the Champions League, Europa League and the UEFA Cup, completed a unique European trophy haul as Roma beat Feyenoord 1-0 in Tirana to ensure he could add the inaugural Conference League to his collection. ‘’The great thing about my career is that, aside from the Europa League with Manchester United, doing it with Porto, Inter and Roma is very, very, very special,’’ an emotional Mourinho said. A TAINTED LEGACY: Comedian Ellen DeGeneres enjoyed a massive fan following in her heyday; she was funny, charming and progressive, and danced her way into people’s hearts over 19 seasons of her TV show. With the series finale today, DeGeneres will be leaving behind a great legacy by many standards. However, she won’t be able to escape the stain of allegations of a toxic workplace that she was hit with in the last few years.
