From the Editors: All eyes on Fed as big rate hike looms Our editors comment on major local and global events plus the day's top trending topics Published: July 27, 2022 11:47 Gulf News Editors and Curated by Sadiq Shaban, Opinion Editor 1 of 4 AND HERE’S THE D-DAY: Later today, the Fed will finally have its say on what’s next for the global markets. The only detail to watch out for is whether that hike extends to 1 per cent or, as the US central bank did last month, stick with another 0.75 per cent increase. On those fine dividing lines will new fortunes be made or lost. Investors in the UAE seem to be taking these in their stride, with ADX and DFM running more or less flat in the morning trades. However, the local property market will soon have to factor in whatever the rate increase will be – and the most vital aspect of it. How will end-users who need mortgages react to the higher costs? With 104 fresh fish stalls, eight dry fish stalls, 44 fish cleaning stations, four fruit and vegetables stalls and three kiosks for sellers and a supermarket, the facility is a one-stop for shoppers wanting to do their groceries and weekly purchases. What’s more, even the design of the purpose-built complex pays a tribute to Abu Dhabi’s rich history of fishing and the old market’s 40-year legacy. (By Sharmila Dhal, UAE Editor). It sent social media into meltdown. England were already 2-0 up at the time and dominating the game but with her back to goal she backheeled the ball through the legs of keeper Hedvig Lindahl to spark wild celebrations from the 30,000 fans inside Bramall Lane. England are now in the final which will take place on Sunday at Wembley and will meet either Germany or France who play tonight in the other semi-final. They are both very tough teams but with confidence sky high right now, England will be fancying their chances of lifting the trophy. There’s a new contender for James Bond and it’s none other than the former ‘Bridgerton’ heartthrob Rege-Jean Page. The British actor, who was last seen sharing screen space with Gosling in ‘The Gray Man’, has emerged as the top pick to play the super spy by director Anthony and Joe Russo, who worked with the actor on the Netflix action film. Page certainly has the votes considering he won hearts and more with his appearance as Simon Basset in the Shonda Rhimes produced ‘Bridgerton’. With a ‘Gray Man’ sequel announced and the ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ in his kitty, Page needs to be snapped up before it’s too late.
