ICONIC EXPO CITY DUBAI REOPENS TO VISITORS AGAIN: Expo City Dubai has officially reopened its doors to the public today inviting tourists and residents to visit one of the most beautiful attractions in the UAE. It is a must-see place as the stunning Al Wasl dome — the beating heart of Expo 2020 Dubai, and now Expo City Dubai — has also come back to life on October 1. Expo City’s two iconic pavilions - Alif (Mobility) and Terra (Sustainability) – also already opened early last month providing added attractions to visitors. The city is founded on a deep-rooted belief that a broad coalition of people, working together, can propel human progress to help create a more sustainable and dignified future for all. YEMEN TRUCE MUST BE EXTENDED: There has been considerable calm in Yemen since the UN-brokered ceasefire took effect in April and has twice been renewed. It has reduced casualties by 60 per cent, humanitarian groups say, which is a good report. Yemenis hope the truce, which is due to expire on October 2, will be extended amid fears any fresh fighting would wipe out the small gains they have made. Yemen’s war between Iran-backed Houthi militia and a Saudi-led Arab coalition has created what the UN calls the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Talks to strike a lasting peace deal remain at a standstill. On the Houthi side, there is no serious will to negotiate. PHIL SALT STARS AS TOURISTS LEVEL TWENTY20 SERIES: England recorded an eight-wicket victory over Pakistan last night in Lahore to level the Twenty20 series at 3-3. There is one last match to play tomorrow and both sides will be keen for a win to keep up their momentum ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. It was Phil Salt who starred for the tourists with his superb unbeaten knock of 88 from 41 balls. Earlier, Pakistan captain Babar Azam had made an unbeaten 87 from 59 balls and England were chasing 170. They were right on track as Salt bludgeoned his way to a 19-ball half-century. It was the third fastest by an Englishman in T20 internationals. The way in which England knocked off the runs was remarkable and on this kind of form, they will fancy their chances not just tomorrow but in Australia too when the showpiece tournament starts in the middle of this month. REAL-LIFE STORIES SHOULD BE RESPECTED: The recently released Netflix series ‘Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ has gotten a mixed reception. Some people have praised Evan Peter’s portrayal of the late serial killer who murdered 17 people. However, others — including the victims’ families — have slammed the show for raking up the past in such a gory fashion, and for being disrespectful to the people who lost their lives. Historical events are often mined for TV shows and movies, but producers should be very careful of which stories they pick. Sometimes, it’s better to leave things in the past for the sake of respecting those who have been hurt by them the most.
