ALZHEIMER'S DRUG OFFERS HOPE: In a significant breakthrough, a newly discovered drug called Donanemab has been hailed as a "turning point" in the battle against Alzheimer's disease. This groundbreaking medication has shown the ability to slow the progression of the disease by up to 35%, allowing individuals with Alzheimer's to maintain their day-to-day tasks such as shopping, housekeeping, managing finances, and medication intake. Donanemab works by targeting and removing the amyloid protein plaques that accumulate in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. For optimal results, these drugs are most effective when administered during the earliest stages of Alzheimer's or even during mild cognitive impairment. UAE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR TAKES CENTRE STAGE: The UAE's construction sector is experiencing a remarkable revival, defying the challenges of the pandemic. Recent announcements and awards demonstrate the country's resilience and solidify its position as a global construction hub. BNC Projects Journal reports an impressive 135 per cent year-on-year growth in project announcements, reaching Dh49.25 billion compared to Dh21 billion last year. Project awards have also surged from Dh33.46 billion to Dh49.22 billion, reflecting substantial investments in infrastructure development. PARENTS BEWARE: Parents are urged to keep an eye out on their kids to protect them from online extortion and abuse. The Abu Dhabi police’s "Safe Summer" campaign stresses on the need to protect the young ones from cyber harassment, bullying, threats, and the pressure to divulge sensitive information or take part in immoral activities. The force warned against subscribing to or buying electronic games from unreliable websites and against giving credit card information. The campaign also aims to raise awareness of how criminal organisations use social media to advertise narcotics. For online purchases, it is recommend to ensure the public uses only trusted sites that employ protective layers, and use a bank card with a low or limited balance to cut the risk of fraud. Parents are enjoined to advise their children and closely supervise them online. It is incumbent upon everyone to exercise vigilance in cyberspace and immediately report suspected criminal activities particularly those targeted at children and adolescents.
