Dubai: Calls on the popular instant messaging platform, Whatsapp, appear to be working for visitors at the Expo 2020 Dubai site. People who were present at the Expo 2020 site on September 30 confirmed that they were able to make calls using the platform.

While most Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) call services are banned in the UAE, the Telecommunications And Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) allowed some VoIP applications for use during the pandemic. This includes Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Zoom and Blackboard.
