McLaren has collaborated with APL to bring you this limited edition luxury trainer inspired by supercars, featuring light-weight carbon-fibre construction

The name McLaren is synonymous with speed and motor racing, having won 183 Formula One Grands Prix in their storied history and 16 championship titles.

When the ultra-luxury brand isn’t creating single-seater racing bolides and hand-made, state-of-the-art hypercars, McLaren is working with partners such as Richard Mille, Bowers & Wilkins, Dell Technologies, and Gulf.

You can pick from five colours inspired by McLaren’s supercar line-up: white/orange, white/black, rose/creme, metallic silver, and orange for both men and women.

Now for its latest collaboration, the British brand has stepped into the world of luxury trainers with APL (Athletic Propulsion Labs) to reveal a line of high-end athletic footwear inspired by the dynamic silhouettes of McLaren’s supercars.

The joining of forces has been in the making for two years during the development of the shoe, resulting in the APL McLaren HySpeed, an all-round running shoe available in five colours either online or from APL’s flagship store in Los Angeles and select retailers globally. With a three-piece midsole featuring APL’s special FutureFoam pods for added comfort, the shoe is framed by a light-weight carbon fibre plate, plus a microfibre heel and a tread pattern like the one you get on performance tyres.

The limited edition shoe is available online or in select retailers.

“APL has developed new technologies specifically for this shoe – inspired by our ground-breaking work using lightweight materials - which also maximises the wearer’s comfort and experience,” said Goran Ozbolt, Acting Design Director, McLaren Automotive. “Like stepping into a McLaren, it is all about optimising performance, agility and speed.”

Even the packaging of the new HySpeed trainers is special: for the $450 retail price, you get a drawer-style shoe box in McLaren’s signature orange, with a black inner compartment that includes technical blueprints.
