There is still one more day left of Paris Fashion Week, but this week has already served up a dizzying array of highlights

Sunday was a day for Balenciaga to shine at Paris Fashion Week with a show that took everyone by huge surprise - incognito and announced, Kanye West walked out onto the catwalk adding modelling to the artist’s extensive portfolio of career successes.

The collection displayed an influence of urban wear and a ‘worn’ aesthetic that pervaded thought the Balenciaga show, with a Kanye West statement released that reads: “Individualism in fashion is downgraded to pseudo trends dictated by a post in stories of some celebrity of the moment … fashion in its best case scenario should not need a story to be sold to someone … let us let everyone be anyone.”

Valentino’s show on Sunday was another glitzy celebrity affair full of VIPs including Naomi Campbell and Zendaya. The Valentino ready-to-wear spring-summer 2023 collection is a wide-reaching showcase of designer Pierpaolo Piccioli’s talents, with some 100 looks paraded down the catwalk.

Balenciaga sent models out onto a dirty, gritty and muddy catwalk for a very dystopian looking show.

Givenchy kept its womenswear show somewhat more subtle, but only slightly so, unable to resist the latest concepts in fashion such as feathers and white-gloved hands.

Today, for the closing day of Paris Fashion Week, we still look forward to the Chanel show as well as Louis Vuitton, so stay tuned for more updates from The Kurator.
