14th Abu Dhabi Art Fair opens on Wednesday
With 80 galleries participating from 28 countries, the 14th Abu Dhabi Art Fair is the biggest one yet, opening tomorrow on November 16 and running until November 20 with entry completely free to the public.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, this year’s Abu Dhabi Art Fair returns to Manarat Al Saadiyat with its most extensive line-up ever of 300 artists presenting more than 900 artworks.
“Introducing complimentary access to the fair fulfills a great ambition for us, in providing an opportunity for a wide audience to engage with the cultural programming that the art fair has to offer, whilst maintaining our commercial DNA as a space for the sale and acquisition of artworks,” said Dyala Nusseibeh, Director, Abu Dhabi Art.
“With the strength of gallery presentations, exhibitions, artist commissions, art workshops and talks at the fair there is something for a diverse range of visitors to experience and we look forward to welcoming all the public through this new initiative,” added Nusseibeh.
Highlights of Abu Dhabi Art Fair to look for include the fair’s 2022 Gateway exhibition, My Life in the Metaverse curated by Dr Omar Kholeif, featuring works by world renowned artists presenting new commissions shown in the UAE for the first time.
New works were also created by three UAE-based emerging artists, Majd Alloush, Sarah Al Mehairi and Mohamed Khalid. Four public installations were also commissioned by Abu Dhabi Art in historical locations across the emirate, include works by Abdullah Al Saadi, Marinella Senatore, Shilpa Gupta and Conrad Shawcross appearing in Al Ain, Al Hosn and on site at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
