Indian engineer wins $1 million in Dubai Duty Free draw

34-year-old has been participating in the promotion for the past three years

Dubai: A 34-year-old Indian engineer won $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free (DDF) Millennium Millionaire draw on Wednesday.

Alen TJ, a resident of Dubai since 2013, has been a regular participant in the promotion for three years. Thanking DDF, the father of one said: “You have given many people like me a wonderful opportunity to change our lives for the better.”

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, the Finest Surprise draw was held for three luxury vehicles.

Jasem Fathi, a Dominican expat in the UAE, won a Mercedes Benz GLS 450 4M car. Fathi is the first Dominican national to have won the Finest Surprise promotion since 1989.

Meanwhile, Pradhul Divakar, a 40-year-old Indian expat in Dubai, won a BMW R 1250 R motorbike. A resident of Dubai for 14 years, Divakar started participating in the DDF promotion a few months ago. The father of two works as an IT application manager for an oil and gas company in Sharjah.

Lastly, another Indian expat in Dubai, Aji Balakrishnan, won an Indian Scout Bobber motorbike. A resident of Dubai for 13 years, Balakrishnan, who is 52, has been a regular participant in the Dubai Duty Free promotion. The father of one works as a security officer for a company, working at Dubai Airport.

After the draw, a presentation to the previous Finest Surprise Car winner was held. Lakshitha Cooray, a Sri Lankan national based in the UAE, won a Mercedes Benz S500 car.
