Expo 2020 Dubai: Indian business leaders in UAE hail India’s great presence, discuss ways to boost trade ties
Dubai: Leading Indian businessmen in the UAE have hailed their country’s great presence at Expo 2020 Dubai and discussed ways to boost trade and investment ties between the UAE and India.
They were speaking after a round table meeting with Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, who inaugurated the India pavilion and called for investment to India, especially to various initiatives that Indian government is promoting after recovering from impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
MA Yusuffali, chairman of Lulu Group, one of the largest exporters of fresh and processed food from India to the Middle East said, “there is huge demand for high quality organic and pesticide free vegetables and fruits in the region” and emphasized the need to further boost the infrastructure such as cold stores, world class packing and research centers to meet the stringent quality requirements of both governments as well retailers in the region.”
He also suggested to immediately bring a high level delegation of Indian food producers and exporters to the UAE to explore the new market requirements post-COVID-19 era.
“India Pavilion is truly a landmark in the Expo 2020 venue and the way all key stakeholders from both governments and private sector has come together is really commendable. I am sure this will further boost the image of a new India full of opportunities and options,” he added.
Dr Azad Moopen, founder chairman and managing director of Aster DM Healthcare, appreciated the Indian government and its Expo partner Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the futuristic and cultural showcase of India which will attract millions, during the six-month extravaganza.
“The nearly 3.4 million Indians residing in India are proud of this and shall be visiting the pavilion along with millions of people from 192 participating countries. Aster is proud to be one of the sponsors of the India pavilion,” he added.
Kamal Vachani, group director and partner at Al Maya Group, said the magnificent India Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai would be a powerful platform for India to showcase its vibrant culture and tremendous growth opportunities during the next six months in Dubai.
“The world will experience the country’s cultural diversity, ancient treasures, business achievements, and leading opportunities with cutting-edge technologies at the pavilion,” said Vachani, who is also the regional director in the Middle East for India’s premier trade promotion association Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC).
