UAE Tennis Federation appoints Burjeel Hospital as healthcare partner for local and international events

The governmental body for tennis in the UAE and the hospital signed an MoU

The UAE Tennis Federation has appointed Burjeel Hospital, Dubai, as its official healthcare partner to provide medical services and support for local and international tournaments conducted by the governmental body for tennis in the UAE. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Naser Al Marzooqi, General Secretary, UAE Tennis Federation, and Bruno Dsouza, Regional COO – Dubai & Northern Emirates, Burjeel Holdings, in the presence of Dr Nayzak Raoof, Regional Chief Medical Officer of Burjeel Holdings.

Burjeel Hospital, which caters to the advanced surgical needs of the community by offering complex surgeries across specialties, will make available physiotherapists and orthopedic doctors specializing in hand & shoulder to serve the Tennis Federation. In addition, the hospital will provide other medical support and special offers for federation members.

Al Marzooqi, General Secretary of the UAE Tennis Federation, said: “The agreement aims to strengthen the medical aspects to give the players as well as the technical and administrative officials high confidence and assurance during training and their participation in tournaments. It will contribute to the success and development of tennis in the UAE.”

The two parties also discussed the methods to make the collaboration successful and expand it in the future. Through the dedicated sports medicine department, Burjeel Hospital will provide expert diagnosis and treatment for all forms of sports injuries for players and athletes of all ages and abilities. It will offer a comprehensive range of services to help patients recover and return from conditions and injuries affecting the ankles, knees, shoulders, elbows, and spine.

Dsouza said the hospital is looking forward to supporting sports by promoting the health of athletes. “We are very proud to collaborate with the UAE Tennis Federation and be a part of the development of tennis in the country. Our capabilities and expertise in providing high-level healthcare services to the sporting community will help us offer the best services to the federation and its stakeholders. This partnership is a major milestone for us and will enable us to further our commitment to supporting the UAE’s health and wellness initiatives,” Mr. Dsouza said.

The Burjeel medical team has catered to the requirements of top international sporting events held in the UAE, including the World Tennis League 2022, Asia Cup 2022, UAE Cycling, IPL 2020 and 2021, AFC Champions League 2021 Group Stage, and ICC T20 World Cup 2021, among others.

According to the agreement, the hospital and the federation will also work together to raise health awareness among the players, officials, and members by hosting workshops and lectures featuring top medical experts.
