Music maestro AR Rahman to perform at the Expo 2020 Dubai
Here’s your chance to witness Oscar winner AR Rahman spin his magic on stage.
A video posted on Expo 2020 Dubai’s Instagram account reveals that AR Rahman will belt out his Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam hits at the Jubilee Stage on March 24.
He will be joined by musicians and singers including Udit Narayan, Vijay Yesudas, Daler Mehendi, and Jonita Gandhi.
In an video uploaded on Expo 2020 Instagram acount, Rahman spoke about the love that he has received at the Expo 2020 Dubai.
“So here we are, once more!,” said AR Rahman, who also put together a musical called ‘Why?’ at the same venue with director Shekhar Kapur. He has also put together an all-women Firdaus Orchestra, his flagship project for Expo 2020 Dubai.
“We wanted to encourage women from this region … Dubai is opening its arms to different philosophies, arts, music. It’s a sign of liberation and it’s a great statement coming from Reem Al Hashimi [Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director-General of the Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau],” said AR Rahman in an interview with Gulf News ahead of the high-profile opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai.
The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ composer is often dubbed as the Mozart Of Madras and has been a formidable agent of change in the Indian musical landscape.
The concert is free as long as you have an entry ticket to Expo 2020.
