Dubai: Berkeley Services Group (BSG) is sponsoring Bharath Latheesh, a 16-year-old badminton sensation currently pursuing his 10th grade at Delhi Public School (DPS) – Dubai.

Bharath embarked on his badminton journey at the tender age of 7, revealing an early passion and commitment to the sport. With nine years of dedicated training under specialised coaches from Indonesia through the Rahhal program initiated by KHDA, Bharath has not only represented his school, DPS but has also showcased his skills on national and international stages. Currently, Bharath is representing the UAE in both Junior and Senior levels of international tournaments.

Balancing academic pursuits with athletic endeavours, Bharath has risen through the ranks, and currently tops the BWF Junior rankings, earning admiration from both peers and mentors.

BSG not only endorses and fosters the talent of the nation's youth but also actively promotes a healthy lifestyle among its employees, the company said. Staff and team members are encouraged to maintain a healthy condition through sports and regular exercise, which is further facilitated by badminton courts prepared in the staff accommodations, the company said. Bharath, as a key figure, manages show-exercises in the accommodation, motivating players and teams.

Berkeley is set to organize show-exercises and meet-and-greets with Bharath in schools and institutes, inspiring young people to engage in sports for their health. This initiative is an integral part of BSG’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program, aligning with the company's commitment to its corporate responsibility.

Karl-Heinz Otto Mair, CEO of BSG said: "At Berkeley, we believe in the power of fostering talent and contributing to the well-being of our community. Our support for Bharath Latheesh goes beyond sponsorship. It is an embodiment of our commitment to a cosmopolitan approach, promoting a healthy lifestyle within our organization, and actively participating in initiatives that inspire the youth. We are proud to be part of Bharath's journey and look forward to witnessing his continued success on and off the badminton court."

“I am happy and thankful to Berkeley Services Group for their preparedness to motivate young athletes like me who strive for a sports career,” said Bharath after the felicitation held on 14th November 2023 at Berkeley's Head office.

“This is an important attainment that inspires me to work hard and perform well. I am hoping to give my best on and off the court, which will make BSG proud and may lead to virtuous changes in the careers of many promising youth. It is my dream to participate and achieve one medal for UAE in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028,” Bharath said.
