The Rolls-Royce Phantom Tempus is inspired by Time, and it has no clock!

The special edition of Goodwood’s flagship car is limited to just 20 examples

Rolls-Royce has today announced a special limited edition to its flagship Phantom range. Dubbed Phantom Tempus Collection, this new iteration is inspired by Time. And ironic as it might seem, the clock on the dashboard has been removed from this collection. Image Credit: Supplied

However, the clock on the dashboard has been replaced, symbolically, by the Bespoke Starlight Headliner consisting of fibre-optic lighting and intricate Bespoke embroidery, mimicking the Pulsar, a rare astronomical phenomenon with very dense, white-hot stars that emit electromagnetic radiation in extremely regular pulses, hence considered some of the most accurate 'clocks' in the universe. Rolls-Royce says another aspect of time – the illusion of its standing still – is captured in the ‘Frozen Flow of Time’ Gallery. This artwork is housed in the fascia from which the clock is deliberately omitted. The Space- and Time-inspired theme continues with a swirling, twisting pattern of stars presented on the interior of the doors. The exterior of the Phantom Tempus Collection is painted in a new bespoke paint finish, Kairos Blue, which is said to "embody the darkness and mystery of space."
