And apart for being the first one, it was also used as a development prototype for the entire run of GTR Longtails and participated in numerous Japanese races, including the Suzuka 1,000km. Image Credit: Supplied

Why was it called the Longtail? That is because it had a lengthened rear bodywork and a bigger rear wing to give it better aerodynamic properties than the standard F1 GTR. Image Credit: Supplied

Power is supplied by its 6.0-litre BMW V12 that makes an air restrictor-controlled 600 horsepower and is mated to an X-Trac six-speed sequential transmission. Image Credit: Supplied
