BugAudi! Bugatti Veyron replica based on a Audi TT is the weirdest thing you'll see all day...

The Bugatti Veyron cost $1.5 million when it was new and today the hypercar commands an even higher price tag which puts it vastly out of reach of the majority of enthusiasts. But if you still want one, there is an affordable ‘replica’ on sale in Japan; based on a 2002 model Audi TT, it is being dubbed the BugAudi!

An actual Veyron is eye-wateringly expensive to run; it costs $25,000 just to change the oil while the French carmaker recommends changing the unique Michellin tyres designed to be able to handle the cars sheer speed every two to three years at the cost of $38,000. The alloys need to be replaced every 16,000km too and they will set you back $50,000. That’s more money than some people will ever see in a lifetime - but this one will only set you back $23,000…

The TT, listed on Carsensor, tries to mimic the Veyron by incorporating a number of its styling cues including its iconic horseshoe-shaped grille, headlight masks and a two-tone paint job.

It has even been equipped with “EB” branded alloy wheels and a centre-mounted dual exhaust system a bit like the one on the actual Super Sport variant. But, the only way anyone would believe this is a Veyron is if they have never seen one in their life…

It also packs a huge rear wing and a central fin – two aerodynamic components that did not find their way on to the Veyron - but since this is a no holds barred build, who cares!

When you put your foot down in this, don’t expect to be pinned back to your seat because unlike an actual Veyron this one does not have an 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 motor making 1,000 horsepower…

You’ll have to make do with the TT’s turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder producing around 220 horses instead. That’s if you are brave enough to be seen driving this…
