Say goodbye to all your heat-related woes with Samsung’s wind-free air conditioner and its amazing first-of-a-kind two-step cooling system.

There’s no one in the UAE who doesn’t know the struggles of the heat we face in the summer. You just can’t wait to get home to your beautifully cooled home. However, is an AC that just blows air out into the room doing it right? Samsung thinks not. The South Korean tech giant wants cooling to be an experience more than just a functionality. Revolutionising the way you experience cooling, Samsung presents its latest air conditioner with a wind-free cooling system.

My AC cools just fine

You might be reading this and thinking ‘but my AC cools just fine’ or ‘how can AC’s get any better?’ Well this is where Samsung jumps into those smaller issues you didn’t think you had. Conventional ACs work in a very simple manner: They blow out air in a warm room until the temperature reaches the desired amount.

Depending on the AC, wind speed then fluctuates to keep the room at a desired temperature. But the temperature is neither exactly at what we need nor is this an energy-efficient method. Most importantly, except for the first 5 minutes after we get into our cooler environments, no one likes AC air constantly blowing in their face.

This method also creates cool spots, or a variance of temperature in the room where some spots are cooler than others thanks to the unidirectional flow of the air from the AC.

So what is the solution?

Samsung approaches these issues with three primary solutions:

Cheaper but fast cooling

Like a conventional air conditioner, the Samsung wind-free AC starts its cooling process in fast-cooling mode but does so while using only 32 per cent of the energy that would be required by conventional air conditioners thanks to an 8-Pole digital inverter.

The wind-free air conditioner also cools faster thanks to its new triangular architecture, which has a wider inlet and outlet as well as a larger fan.

No direct wind

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers defines any air current less than 0.15m/s to be still air. Once fast cooling has attained the desired temperature, the air conditioner’s main vent closes and air flows out of the machine through 21,000 micro holes. The air conditioner spreads air through the room at a speed less than 0.15m/s.

This means the AC is able to spread cool air through the room in a uniform manner without creating temperature variances or cold spots.

IoT-ready

With the Wi-Fi Control using a Smart Home app, you can remotely control the functions and schedule its operation. It also gives you live feedback about how it’s operating and lets you monitor and limit power usage.

While you’re making your way home this summer, you would not have to worry about getting home and waiting for the room to cool down. Whether you are walking, on the metro or in a car, you can log onto your Smart Home app, switch on your air conditioner, and set it at your desired temperature. Forgotten to switch off your AC? Well, you can do so even after you’ve left the house. The app also allows you to monitor and limit your power usage of the air conditioner.

So where can I get one?

Samsung’s wind-free air conditioners are available at all leading electronics retail outlets in two sizes, 1.5 ton and 2 ton, which retail at Dh3,199 and Dh3,799 (excluding VAT) respectively.
