Dubai: Al Sadd of Qatar scored the highest winning margin in an official international match in GCC and Arab football history when they demolished second division side Meaizer 21-0 in Jasim Cup in Qatar.

Al Sadd, who are the title holders of the Qatari league (they have won it a record 10 times), broke their own Qatar record which they hold from 1982 when they beat Al Shamal club 16-2.

Al Sadd, needing to win by a heavy score to top their group in the Jasim Cup, took things seriously from the start. Within nine minutes they scored five goals and the first half ended 10-0.

Equadorian striker Carlos Tenorio scored 10 goals, which is also a new record in Qatar football. Yousuf Ahmad scored four, Brazilian Felippe three, Anwar Babekir two, and Abdullah Koni and Talal Boloushy scored one goal each.

The Australian national team hold the world record for the biggest winning margin ever, having crushed American Samoa 31-0 in a World Cup qualifier at Coffs Harbour in Australia in April 2001.

The second biggest winning margin is also held by Australia who had demolished Tonga 22-0, two days prior to beating American Samoa.

Libya are third on the Fifa list for the biggest margin of wins in international football. They defeated Oman 21-0 in Baghdad in an Arab tournament in Baghdad 1966. Kuwait are fourth with a 20-0 win over Bhutan in a 2000 Asian Cup qualifier.
