The Agrokoncernas Group, the leading agricultural company in the Baltic region, is looking for strategic partners for its new business development projects.

The Lithuanian private equity group, which brings together 54 companies, is implementing an investment programme of investment projects in deep grain processing, dairy production and processing, and the construction of wind power plants.

The Republic of Lithuania is a member of the EU and NATO and its currency is the euro.

Deep grain processing

The Agrokoncernas Group owns 14 agricultural production companies involved in crop and livestock farming. Together it owns 28,000 hectares of land.

Agrokoncerno Grūdai buys and exports over 1.5 million tonnes of grain per year. This represents about 20 per cent of the country's total harvest. In total, the company can store over 800,000 tonnes of grain at any one time.

In order to exploit the potential of the group's companies, it was decided to develop a new promising deep grain processing project. Agrokoncernas GDP is responsible for the development and operation of the deep grain processing plant.

The plant would process around 500,000 tonnes of wheat annually. A steady supply of raw material with storage could be fully ensured by the group companies.

The cereals will be used to produce two main products, starch and gluten, as well as byproducts such as bioethanol and biofertilisers. Possibilities for further processing of the main products are being explored.

The plant will also incorporate biomethane production solutions to optimise energy costs and to support the Green Deal.

The highest quality and efficiency of the equipment will be ensured by major technology suppliers such as Bühler of Switzerland, Flottweg of Germany, SiccaDania of Denmark, Interis of France, Biotechnika of Poland and others.

The first plant is expected to be operational in 2027.

With a strategic partner, the project is expected to develop one of the most modern and competitive deep grain processing centres in the world.

Milk production and processing

Another project being developed by Agrokoncernas Group is the construction of Europe’s largest and most modern dairy cow complex, which will start in spring 2024. The eight hectares of buildings will be used to breed almost 10,000 cattle, including 4,000 dairy cows. The entire herd will be made up of dairy cattle of the highly productive Holstein-Friesian breed.

The total area of the cow farm complex will be 53 hectares. The daily production of raw milk in this complex is expected to exceed 140 tonnes and the annual production will exceed 51,000 tonnes.

The group’s dairy farms currently have around 4,000 dairy cows.

The construction of four more complexes, with the existing herds of cows, would result in the production of up to 700 tonnes of raw milk per day. The cow farm complex, with integrated new technological solutions, will start its operations at the beginning of 2026.

The group is looking for a strategic partner for this project who is interested in investing in high-quality milk production and dairy products.

Wind farms

The group’s subsidiary Agrokoncerno Žalioji Energija has designed three wind farms on its own land with a total capacity of 700-800MW.

The largest wind farm is designed to concentrate 500MW of wind power within a 30km radius. This makes it an energy island without a connection to the main grid, while the low cost of electricity generation allows for competitive production of green hydro, ammonia and/or methanol.

The group is looking for a strategic partner to contribute to the development of this portfolio of energy projects.

The minimum requirements for the Agrokoncernas Group project investors are a solid financial track record and industry reputation/experience; type financing – direct investment (project financing); and long-term successful exposure to supply chain downstream.
