It’s the weekend! As you relax and take a breather with our Weekend Crossword, a gentle warning that there’s more to it than meets the eye.

Find out for yourself by clicking start to play.

As with all ancient finds – that’s the theme of this weekend’s crossword – you will have to dig deeper than you have before, and you should be prepared for surprises along the way. Several clues in this puzzle have hidden words within the answers – you will see them represented as circles in the crossword.

These circles can change the way you play.

For instance, if you’re unsure about the name of the necropolis that holds an animal sacred to its builders (24-Across), there’s another way to go about it. Find the animal, and you’ll have your answer!

But what does this new gameplay mean for you? More head-scratching? Potentially. A more challenging puzzle than you’ve gotten used to on week days? Definitely. But it also means a much more interesting and rewarding experience when you find those sneaky hidden words!

Don’t wait another minute. Take up the challenge and let us know how it goes at games@gulfnews.com.
