Vaishnavi Pherwani and Nimay Shahani's dream wedding was a perfect blend of Tamil and Sindhi cultures

In the enchanting corridors of their university, two souls found an undeniable connection that would soon blossom into a lifelong journey. Vaishnavi Pherwani and Nimay Shahani met on their very first day of university, and from that moment, their lives intertwined in a way that seemed predestined. “We used to spend most of our time together, driving to university, which strengthened our bond and friendship,” Vaishnavi reminisces. “Our friendship has always been super special and much cherished, which has been the foundation of our relationship.”

This bond, rooted deeply in friendship, gradually unveiled its true nature. “Soon, we realised that we were more than best friends. As they say, marry your best friend, we are lucky enough to find a friend and partner in the same person,” Nimay adds.

The realisation that they were meant to be together came during a period of separation. After spending every day together for three whole years, Nimay moved to India for a brief period. “It was then that it dawned on us how much we meant to each other and how badly we wanted to be together and spend the rest of our lives together,” Vaishnavi shares. This absence only made their hearts grow fonder, solidifying their commitment to one another.

Vaishnavi and Nimay's journey from university friends to being life partners is a beautiful reminder that at times the person you are meant to spend your life with was right beside you all the time

When it came to planning their wedding, Vaishnavi and Nimay knew they wanted a celebration that was as unique and special as their relationship. “Our family members singing the traditional Tamil song for our Oonjal and Haldi ceremony and having a fully customised musical phera set with a tailor-made bridal entry song made our special day uniquely ours,” Nimay says. These personal touches ensured that their wedding was a true reflection of their love and shared cultural heritage.

One of the most unforgettable moments of their wedding day was having their friends and families celebrate with them. “Our team of planners at Event Soul brought our dreams to reality. They were so considerate to incorporate everything we and our family wished to have on our special day,” Vaishnavi recalls. The wedding was a perfect blend of Tamil and Sindhi cultures, with highlights that included favourite artists, photographers, emcees, choreographers, and even a dancing panda that stole the show. “It was an absolute highlight, making our wedding truly special and unforgettable.”

The support from their loved ones was integral to the success of their wedding. “Each and every member of our family has played a big role in helping us plan our wedding,” Nimay explains. “Our parents have been our pillars in the entire planning process and worked endlessly to give us our dream wedding. The siblings have been super hands-on with coordinating and attending to all our guests who flew in from near and far. Our friends have been our rock-solid support system and our 6am after-party crew who made our wedding super lit.”

Reflecting on their perfect day, Vaishnavi and Nimay have no regrets. “Looking back, there is nothing we would like to change about our wedding,” they both agree. Their advice to other couples planning their dream wedding? “Enjoy the process and the fights because it’s all worth it in the end. If the couple can successfully sail through the wedding planning stage, they can achieve anything in life together. Enjoy your wedding stress-free and make the most of it.”

Vaishnavi and Nimay’s story is a testament to the power of friendship, love, and unwavering support from family and friends. Their journey from university friends to life partners is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the person you are meant to spend your life with is right beside you from the very beginning.
