Victim severely beaten up by her father before being shot dead
Dubai: A Yemeni father has shot dead his daughter after brutally beating her up to prevent her from attending a wedding, local media reported.
Local media said that the father was enraged when his daughter asked his permission to attend a wedding of a neighbour in the village of Al Wahss in Dhi Al Saffal district of the Ibb governorate.
The father severely beat up his daughter and shot her dead, media quoted well-informed sources as saying. The reports also said that the man, who was not identified, is known for his harsh treatment of his children, especially girls. He had previously prevented one of his daughters from attending school, and that her sister was rescued years ago after being severely beaten up, reports said.
Due to the unprecedented insecurity, there is a remarkable increase in crime rates in the Houthi militia-controlled areas, in northern Yemen. Recently, a Houthi militant burned his wife and mother following a dispute in west of the capital Sana'a.
